Bricoman Polska is a chain of DIY stores belonging to the Adeo group, created both for professionals, i.e. general construction companies, contractors, specialists who build and renovate professionally, as well as for individual clients who build, renovate or finish their own house or flat.

The Bricoman company turned to Sense Monitoring with a specific problem to solve: increasing the security of the store in Jaworzno due to possible roof loading and settlement of foundations. The Sense S-One system was chosen because it is based on laser sensors operating in the roof plane.

“This method of measurement does not affect the use of the store and there is no risk that the laser beam will hit customers of the Bricoman store or staff” explains Mariusz Chmielewski, development director at Bricoman Polska

Due to the commercial nature of the building, work was carried out at night, after the store opening hours. Eight sensors were installed under the roof in accordance with the designer’s guidelines. Sensor data is sent to the Amazon Web Services cloud. Thanks to this, the measurement results are always up to date and the collected data is in a safe place.

Store staff have been given access to the Sense S-One web application to check the current state of effort of the structure, and in case of exceeding the set alarm levels, SMS notifications and e-mail are sent.

Interestingly, during the first winter season in Jaworzno intensive snowfall took place. Despite the thick snow cover, the system readings were at the maximum level of 64% of permissible deflection and no snow was needed. Thanks to Sense S-One, store staff had a sense of security despite the lack of snow removal.

The Sense S-One system exceeded our expectations because, in addition to improving safety, we additionally saved on snow removal and repairs to the roof membrane“.
