For many, the Nidec brand is synonymous with the highest quality electric and mechanical drives, produced primarily for the automotive market. Specialized devices manufactured in factories around the world are used in engines, industrial drives and braking steering systems. One of the largest Nidec automotive division plants in Europe, i.e. the Nidec Motors & Actuators Poland plant, operates in Niepołomice near Kraków. The factory has been divided into six independent production areas, and the drives here are designed for car locks, roof windows, steering gears, cooling system fans and seat adjustment.

All these complex processes take place in spacious halls, covered with a large-area roof. In the search for solutions guaranteeing the proper operation of the roof structure, understood as guaranteeing full safety to employees, equipment and products, representatives of Nidec Motors & Actuators Poland decided to install the Smart Roof platform. After installing the roof sensor system (Sense S-One model), the collection, processing and archiving of all data relevant to the condition of the roof structure began. These include information about the patency of roof inlets, the level of soaking of the insulation, the impact of the snow cover on the bending arrow or the amount of water stagnation. The second important element of the Smart Roof platform used in NMAP halls is the web application. This is where the data collected by the sensors are displayed in the form of readable graphics and charts. Another application functionality is instant notification (via e-mail or SMS) of critical events that pose a threat to the roof structure.
